Indochina Missions
Missionary Glenn Colley is originally form St. Charles, IL. He served
four years in the United States Marine Corps spending nine months at
sea aboard the USS Iwo Jima, the USS Inchon, and the USS Guadalcanal
in Europe, Africa, and South America. After military service, Glenn
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) with a Major in
Applied Chemistry and a Minor in Biblical Studies. In the course of
his studies and work, he has spent time in 22 countries on six of
seven continents (not Antarctica).
Following graduation, Glenn
returned to St. Charles, where he planned to spend his career as a
chemist, although the Lord had different plans. While attending Bethel
Baptist Church of St. Charles, he served as director of the junior
high ministries and church treasurer. In 1987, he made an initial
survey trip to Cambodia and began praying about a mission work there.
In 1991, he followed up with a second survey trip. Miraculously,
permission was granted by the national government to welcome his
return as a Christian missionary. At that time the decision was made
by the membership of Bethel Baptist Church to commission Glenn to go
to Cambodia as a missionary: he was ordained by the pastor and deacons
of Bethel Baptist Church on February 2, 1992. In the following days
preparations were made including several months of intensive language
study and the packing and shipping of basic supplies, including a
motorcycle. In November of 1992, Glenn was sent from Chicago's O'Hare
airport to the mission field of Cambodia.
Since that time, a base
church on the outskirts of Phnom Penh has been established, which is
led by Pastor Colley, along with ten other churches in nearby
villages, each led by national pastors.
Early in his ministry
to Cambodia, Glenn met and married Saveun, who faithfully serves along
with him. Glenn and Saveun find confidence from the words of 2
Thessalonians 5:24, “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do
it.” Their desire is found in the very next verse: “Brethren, pray for
us.” (v. 25)
